ARS recruiting alerts are text messages, sent by SMS or WhatsApp, that tell a family when something happens on a student-athlete's recruiting case. Every message starts with “ARS:”. Alerts are sent only where the athlete's agency has text alerts turned on, and only after consent is recorded as described below.
Consent is given in ARS, in the case's Permissions tab, by checking the consent box and providing the phone number(s) to text. It can be given only by:
An athlete under 18, or whose date of birth is not on file, cannot give consent, and agency staff cannot give it on a family's behalf. Consent is not required as a condition of using ARS, of receiving recruiting services from your agency, or of any purchase. It only controls whether text alerts are sent.
Two kinds of messages: a coach reply alert when a coach responds to outreach on your case, and a film-view alert when a coach opens a shared film link. Every message sent to the athlete's number is also sent to the guardian's number. Message frequency varies with your case's recruiting activity; there is no fixed schedule. No marketing or promotional messages are sent through this program. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. Every text message ends with that instruction. QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL and UNSUBSCRIBE work the same way, and no further messages are sent to that number on that channel once one is received. If the guardian's number opts out, texts stop for the whole case, because an athlete is never texted without the guardian's copy. If the athlete's number opts out, the guardian keeps receiving alerts. Replying START does not turn alerts back on; consent has to be given again in ARS by the person entitled to give it. The person who gave consent can also uncheck the consent box in ARS at any time, which stops sending immediately.
Reply HELP to any message for help, or email legal@mail.athleticrecruitingsystem.io. For questions about your case itself, contact your agency.
Federal rules require an opt-out to be honored within 10 business days. ARS honors it immediately: consent is checked again before every message is sent, not on a delay.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and your phone being reachable.
Phone numbers collected for text alerts are used only to send the alerts described above. They are never sold, and no mobile information or consent is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The only party outside ARS that receives your number is the messaging provider that delivers the texts (Twilio). See the Privacy Policy for everything else.
